The Relationship Between Application of Dialogue and Mental and Social Health (Based on a Sample of Employees in Tehran-District 6)

Abstract
 
Changes in the type of common diseases have provoked inevitable changes in the models and paradigms of explaining health. The contemporary bio-psycho-social approach is founded on the assumption that diseases are the final outcomes of the interaction of actors with one another, as well as their engagement with other individual and biological factors. Nevertheless, the interpersonal communication and dialogue between the parties has remained as a neglected research domain. Based on Habermas’s views, this research states that as a result of the colonization of the lifeworld by the system, communication rationality has been distorted, the application of dialogue has been disrupted, and people’s health has been compromised. This research is set to identify the relationship between the use of dialogue and the health of working people by considering some coordinates of their work environment. To this end, this research focuses on employees, being conducted as a survey with the statistical population of employees in District 6 of Tehran, and sample analysis unit is 416 individuals. Sampling is based on the available sample method, the individual being the analysis unit. A researcher-made and standard combined questionnaire was used to collect data. The validity of the questionnaire was calculated in a formal way and its reliability was calculated using Cronbach’s alpha. The results of the research, while confirming the hypotheses of the research, proved the effect coefficient of the use of dialogue and organizational structure on mental health is 0.40 and -0.19, respectively; and the effect coefficient of dialogue and organizational culture on social health is 0.19 and -0.15. The coefficient of significant impact of organizational culture on the application of dialogue is significant and negative with standard Beta coefficient of -0.29%.
