Abstract
The present study aimed to examine and assess the pedagogical analysis of the "Freedom Writers" movie by incorporating the cinema industry as an educational instrument. The study employed a qualitative research approach and utilized the semiotics methodology. The movie has undergone scrutiny through the application of John Fisk's semiotic approach. The results of the study indicated that the "Freedom Writers" movie portrays a teacher who successfully transforms the classroom environment from one characterized by racial animosity to one focused on the pursuit of knowledge and understanding. This movie employs various educational strategies, including critical analysis of story and novel, museum visits, writing experiences, and meeting with inspiring individuals. The research concluded that conducting critical analysis sessions of movies on the academic domain and evaluating the impact of these screenings on the attitudes and motivations of the viewers can be a valuable recommendation for both academic scholars and teacher education institutions.
