Visual Factors in Religious Websites (Case study: Islamic and Christianity Religious Websites)

Abstract
The presence a large number of religious websites in World Wide Web and the efforts to convey religious idea highlights the importance of research on the characteristics that influence on the use of these websites. Therefore, the present study examines religious visual factors such as the signs including (verses and hadiths, the Islamic-Christian art motifs, the Islamic-Christian art colors, crescent, Kaaba, Cross) and the images including (Qur'an - Bible, the clerics, the places of worship and rituals) in the 10 Islamic and Christianity religious websites. To address this issue, a descriptive-analytic approach and qualitative method have been used. In addition, data were collected through the documentary and desk studies. The findings showed that on religious Christian websites, the designers have purposefully used images in representation religious features, while on Islamic websites, religious signs and images were used in representation religious features.
