Abstract

The present study is a result of a quantitative survey conducted in relation to consumption of music and lifestyle. The statistical population of the study were students of Mazandaran University. The sample size was 372 according to the Cochran formula, which increased to more than 385 people for certainty. According to the results of the research, pop music has the highest percentage among all types of music. The results of the test showed a significant difference between the residents of the city and the village regarding the amount of music consumption, but there is no significant difference between men and women. The results of Pearson correlation coefficient show that there is a significant relationship between music consumption and family income and their correlation coefficient is positive. There is also a significant relationship between music consumption and education, and their negative correlation coefficient shows that with increasing each variable, the other variable decreases and vice versa. Muscle consumption has a significant relationship with the variables of body pattern and body management which are components of lifestyle, but this relationship with leisure time variable is not significant.
Finally, the results show that the increase in the level of education of parents increases the amount of music consumption among people, as well as the decrease in the level of education of parents, the amount of music consumption among people is also decreasing. The results also show that 36% of life style variance (dependent variable) is explained by the independent variables of this research.
