Abstract

Abstract: Today, anomalous condition of Iran's environment has changed to one of the most important national concerns. Due to this reality, it is required that different social thinkers try to find a solution through research and inquiry implementation. Based on this aim, this research seeks to analyze the relationship between media consumption (mass media and social media) and Environmental Literacy among a sample of Tehran citizens. The research has been released on survey method. According to cochran formula the sample size has determined about 384 persons. Tehran divided to different municipal areas and then by Cluster sampling method we chose some clusters. Then, a simple random sample of clusters is selected from the population. Standard and researcher design questionnaire has been conducted for Gathering data (data collection). Formal Validity and reliability of measurement tools are considered. Based on research findings, some demographic variables such as age, education, in come and marriage status of participants have significant correlations with environmental literacy. Also, main research hypothesis titled with relationship between media consumption and environmental literacy has been confirmed. It means that awareness, attitude and supportive action toward environment will be improved through media consumption.
This paper has been completed by suggesting some research implications for Iran society.
