Abstract

Among the most important subjects that have always been closely related to literature, is the city as the domain of society and social life. Accordingly, in the history of literature, there are numerous utopias that sometimes have a literary and romantic aspect and sometimes a realistic and social aspect. The purpose of this paper is to recognize the modern utopian notion in the fiction of two decades before the Islamic Revolution (from 1972 to 1977), which emphasizes Nader Ebrahimi's fiction in which the status of the city and utopia in literature, the characteristics and developments of Iranian society with regard to Internal and external events are investigated. In this research, based on the discourse analysis method, derived from Lacla and Mouffe's views on the constructivist approach to representational theory, in the mentioned period, due to the conditions of the Iranian society, social developments and critical perspectives, the dominant notion of "return" is noted which has appeared in the writings of Nader Ebrahimi in a Literary and romantic way, as a "nostalgia for the past".
