Abstract

The present study examines the status of identity of women and their self-actualization in individuality in two venues: religious community associations (Hayattes) and coffee shops. The population of this study constitutes 34 ordinary women and 8 privileged women in Tehran by applying theoretical sampling method. The research method that has been used here is “grounded theory” and the desired information was collected and rewritten using in-depth interviews. The findings of the study showed that the shaping of women's identity can be expressed in the following subjects: Flexible Free time, Leisure, The impact of music in coffee shop, Incompatible combination of tradition and modernism in individuality, Superiority of religion in the childhood, Spiritual conductivity, Obsession in religious believes, Migration and a sense of need to redefine the meaning of religion, The spirituality dialectic, Feminine ignorance caused by prejudice, The dominant patriarchy culture, Duality of cafe and religious community associations (Hayattes), Heterogeneous congruence, Communication deconstruction, The incompatibility of modern religious community associations (Hayattes) with the essence of spirituality, Combination of spirituality and pleasure, The romantic action of religious community associations (Hayattes), And the rebuilding of the spiritual dialogues. The result also showed that to shape the identity of women in Iranian society today, first of all we have to pay attention to the indicators of the influences from religious identity. On the other hand, the presence of women in modern places such as coffee shop suggests that the acceptance of modernism among the new generation of Iranian women is undeniable.
