Abstract

One of the important topics in studies related to the media and its functions, especially the political functions of the media, is the discussion of "power and its relationship with the media.", the aim is to examine the relationship between power (media or symbolic) and media. And review of communication media policies in Iran after the Islamic Revolution and review of factors affecting communication media policies; Examine the nature and position of the media and its relationship to symbolic power. For this purpose, a descriptive-analytical method has been used to provide a more accurate picture of the subject through a combined review of previous research,

Findings indicate that communication is a form of social action and appears through the media. The media has symbolic power and has been able to influence the thoughts and minds of the audience and to create the changes intended by the government to a large extent. The media are the main tool for organizing the people, and they are the agents of those who exercise economic and political power. The policy of communication media has been to ensure freedom of expression and dissemination of ideas in accordance with Islamic norms and the interests of the country, as well as promotion at the level of political, social and cultural culture of the people. The media has influenced public opinion and has been able to play a significant role in the country's major policies such as political elections, political trust, economic actions.
