Abstract
This research is conducted by leveraging Fairclough’s framework for Critical Discourse Analysis (which is famous for its three stages, Description, Interpretation and Explanation) to analyze the representation of the political context in the movie, The Glass Agency (Hatamikia, 1998) and after introducing the present wings and political groups at the time of production of the text, it will attempt to determine the movie’s position towards their rival discourses.
After extracting discourse types (and their interpretation of situational and intertextual contexts) and explanations of them, It has been claimed that the movie the Glass Agency by reminding the role of “the Traditional Left Wing” in the first decade of post-revolution Iran (especially in defending the country against the foreign enemy after Iraq’s invasion), deals with the representation of oppression and exclusion of its members since the year 1989 in which “the Traditional Right Wing” has predominated and this movie desires the ruling class to facilitate the return of the traditional left to power.
