Abstract

In this paper we study this question that how the discourse of moderation became hegemonic in 12th Iran’s presidential election. To this end we study and compare Rohani and Raeesi’s election mottos in Leclao and Mofe analyzing manners. Findings show that discourse of moderation, generally, was more successful in using hegemon strategies than principlists. It means that moderations, more comprehensively, and completely used the Exclusion and highlighting in political, social, cultural, and economic aspects. But the discourse of principlists used the Exclusion narrower and mostly sed it in economic issues. Moderationist politicians were acting more coherent and harmonious than principlists. In popularity both discourses have same situation. But in credibility, moderation, because of support of discourse of reformists, could win more popularity. So moderations could change itself in people minds as a hero and absorb different positions in its nature.Key words: Hegemony,discourse analyz , LacLau and Mouffe, election, Moderation, reformist, principlist
