Abstract

The development of communication technologies has caused all segments of society, particularly the youth, being under the influence of globalization process. It is likely that having access to the new communication phenomena have some effects on the societal priorities and demands. This article is examining the relationship between being under the influence of globalization process (mainly modern information and communication media) and societal demands. To conduct the research the theory of Gibbins and Bo Reimer and also that of Hibbert has been applied. Accordingly, it is hypothesized that people who are under the influence of globalization process, are more likely to tend to modern values and consequently, are more likely to have societal demands.
The research conducted by a survey method with a 325 sample of university students of Tarbiat Moallem University of Tehran. The findings provide the support for the hypothesis.
