Abstract

The purpose of this article is to theoretically and empirically explain the analytical model for a relationship in which the religious dimensions act as an independent variable and the social capital as a dependent variable. Based on theoretical perspectives of social capital and expert views by Coleman, Putnam and Fukuyama, and others, components of "trust", "consistency" and "participation" are defined as the core components of social capital. In this study, the religion of employees as a cultural factor affecting the amount of social capital is explored. The research method is of a survey type and data have been collected with valid and reliable questionnaires. The research population consisted of all employees in the Petrochemical Special Economic Zone of Mahshahr Petrochemical complex in Iran. Cochran formula was used to determine sample size and the number of employees required based on this formula was 320 individuals. Based on the research findings, the main hypothesis, i.e., the positive relationship between social capital and religiosity of the  personnel, was confirmed (α ≤ 0.01).
