A distinction has been made between the everyday usage of this word and its usage in social science as a term of art. Our study indicates that the word “hambastegi” was coined in the 1940s, although synonyms such as “ettefagh”(consensus), “ettehad” (unity), “taavon”(cooperation) and “baradari”(fraternity) were commonly used in the constitutional revolution and before. From these words, unity, union, cooperation and fraternity are being used frequently today. <br />In the terminology of social science, the word “hambastegi” for solidarity has been in use from the 1960’s. The concept is mostly discernible in translations and interpretations of Durkheim’s works. There are two distinct interpretations of this concept in social science literature today. The first, mostly under the influence of French socialist tradition, parallels solidarity with cooperation and syndicalism, and believes it could be achieved through the participation of every citizen in society. The second interpretation is under the influence of American conservative sociology that views solidarity in terms of conformity with the existing order. هدف این مقاله مطالعۀ تاریخ مفهوم همبستگی در ایران معاصر است. در این مطالعه استفادۀ عمومی از این واژه از استفادۀ آن در علوم اجتماعی تفکیک شده است. <br />مطالعۀ ما نشان می‌دهد واژۀ همبستگی، در زبان فارسی واژۀ جدیدی است که در دهۀ 20 جعل شده و رواج پیدا کرده است. اما واژگان خانوادۀ این مفهوم مانند اتفاق، اتحاد، معاضدت و تعاون، برادری و اخوت، از دورۀ مشروطه و قبل از آن رایج بوده‌اند. از این میان واژگان اتحاد و اتحادیه و تعاون و برادری تا امروز نیز استفاده می‌شوند. <br />در ادبیات علوم اجتماعی واژۀ همبستگی به عنوان معادلی برای solidarity از دهۀ 40 رواج پیدا می‌کند. این واژه اغلب در ترجمه و شرح آثار دورکیم دیده می‌شود. رد دو تفسیر از این مفهوم را می‌توان در ادبیات علوم اجتماعی این دوره دید. یکی تفسیری متأثر از سوسیالیسم فرانسوی که همبستگی را در کنار تعاون و سندیکالیسم می‌بیند و آن را امری می‌داند که باید با مشارکتِ همۀ شهروندان جامعه ساخته شود. تفسیر دوم متأثر از جامعه‌شناسیِ محافظه‌کار آمریکاست که همبستگی را به معنای همنوایی با نظم موجود می‌داند. https://www.jcsc.ir/article_696922_ae1fdfe053693202ce572b0fe1ae2b6f.pdf
